Response to Intervention
is a new initiative supported by the federal and state government to help
students in school systems improve their learning success. No Child Left Behind
Act & Individuals with Disabilities Improvement Act 2004 support the RTI
process.
Introduction
Response to Intervention
is a three step approach to support students who struggle with learning.
All students at RGS will
be tested three times a year to evaluate progress. A student who shows little
progress and is behind peers or has teacher concerns will receive intervention
through the RtI Program. Progress will be monitored to access the proper
tier level and intervention to be implemented explicitly for each
student.
The Three RtI steps
Step 1:All students
will be tested three times a year.
Step 2: Qualifying
students will be placed in a tier. * 2-3
Step 3: Placed
students will be monitored for progress.
* Three Tiers-What
are they?
Tier 1: The use of researched-based instruction in the
classroom as its core intervention.
Tier 2:
Support through school-based problem-solving team and receives slightly intense
intervention service within a small group (2-4 students).
Tier 3: Support
through multi-disciplinary team and receives intense, individual intervention service.
RtI Vision Statement
At Ransom Grade School, we are partners in a creative,
caring community of lifelong learners. The school system embraces the Response to Intervention Framework model,
now part of educational law, as a system of service delivery that uses
research-based interventions, monitoring and evaluation for on-going tracking
of individual students in making informed decisions about the students'
educational and behavioral programming needs. We believe through collaboration
with students, parents, faculty, and the community that ALL CHILDREN WILL LEARN.
