This year we have the priviledge of working with a new reading series.  The series is online and the students each have an individual log-in and password.  The website contains the textbook as well as activities and worksheets for each story.  I am very excited about incorporating this into the class instruction.  Below is the link for the website:

6th, 7th, and 8th grade students are all reading fiction and nonfiction short stories in reading class.  While reading, the students work on literary elements such as: predicting, activating prior knowlege, setting, characters, plot, theme, conflict, and resolution. 

Each week the students complete a spelling unit.  On Fridays a test will be given on the unit of the week.

I have been increasing the number of books in our classroom library.  I hope each student takes advantage of having these great books at their fingertips.  The more the students read, the more successful they will be at reaching their AR goals for the quarter.
